The virtual rockstars showcased their latest album, The Mountain, released just days prior on February 27th. The album already hit No. 1 on the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart, marking their third U.K. chart-topper.
They kicked off their first performance with a blistering rendition of “Clint Eastwood,” the iconic single that launched them into stardom back in 2001. The stage came alive with a massive screen projecting the animated band members, while Del the Funky Homosapien himself graced the stage to deliver his legendary verses.
Their second act saw Albarn and crew dive into the new track “The Moon Cave,” featuring a star-studded lineup of guests, including singer-songwriter Asha Puthli, The Roots’ Black Thought, and sitar virtuoso Anoushka Shankar. A dynamic string section elevated the performance even further.
Gorillaz are hitting the road in support of The Mountain, embarking on their first North American tour in four years. The tour kicks off September 17th in Orlando, Florida, and culminates on Halloween in Seattle. The Mountain follows their 2023 release, Cracker Island.
Earlier in the night, Harry Styles made a surprise cameo during Gosling’s opening monologue, sending the audience into a frenzy. Gosling playfully incorporated the moment into his bit, feigning panic that Styles was stealing his spotlight.
