Guns N' Roses Unleash New Singles and Classic Hits at Tecate Pa'l Norte Festival, Monterrey

Guns N’ Roses are back, electrifying audiences with a world tour that commenced on March 28 at the Tecate Pa’l Norte festival in Monterrey, Mexico. The legendary hard rock band, fronted by Axl Rose, Slash, and Duff McKagan, treated fans to the live premieres of their latest singles, “Nothin’” and “Atlas,” rediscovered gems from their 2008 album, Chinese Democracy.

“It’s good to see you,” Rose greeted the massive crowd at Parque Fundidora, estimated at 100,000 attendees. The band launched their set with the iconic 1987 hit, “Welcome to the Jungle,” followed by timeless classics like “Mr. Brownstone” and “Bad Obsession.”

Rose charmed the audience with a “Muchas gracias” before launching into electrifying covers of Paul McCartney & Wings’ “Live and Let Die” and Velvet Revolver’s “Slither”. The singer kept the speeches to a minimum, letting the music do the talking.

The 90-minute-plus setlist featured tracks such as “Chinese Democracy,” “Pretty Tied Up,” “It’s So Easy,” “Yesterdays,” and “Double Talkin’ Jive.” A highlight included Rose's tribute to the late Ozzy Osbourne with a rendition of Black Sabbath’s “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath,” reflecting on their surprising first meeting last July at Sabbath’s final concert, “Back to the Beginning.”

Dressed in leather, Rose delivered a powerful vocal performance, while Slash's mesmerizing guitar riffs and McKagan's elegant bass lines captivated the crowd. The current lineup also includes Richard Fortus on guitar and Isaac Carpenter on drums. Prior to the tour, the band announced that keyboardist Melissa Reese would be absent due to "personal reasons."

As announced by Rose, the band performed "Nothin'” live for the first time, a ballad reminiscent of classics like “November Rain” and “Don’t Cry.” “Atlas,” also debuted live, is a hard-hitting rock track. These singles mark the band’s recent independent releases, following their long-awaited album, Chinese Democracy.

The stage production featured massive screens displaying visuals of robots with roses and guns, referencing the band’s name and iconic imagery from Appetite for Destruction and the Use Your Illusion era.

Guns N’ Roses' world tour includes North American dates starting July 23 in Raleigh, North Carolina, at the Carter-Finley Stadium, followed by shows in South America and Europe.
