Iron Maiden: 'Burning Ambition' Documentary Unveils 50 Years of Metal Majesty
A new documentary, 'Burning Ambition,' captures Iron Maiden's five-decade journey, featuring band interviews and insights from fellow artists.

Iron Maiden's epic trajectory, from London's East End to global stadium headliners, is immortalized in Burning Ambition, a new documentary set to hit cinemas May 7th via Universal Pictures. The trailer is available now, offering a glimpse into the band's remarkable story.
Directed by Malcolm Venville (Churchill at War) and produced by Dominic Freeman (Spirits in the Forest – A Depeche Mode Film), the film boasts unprecedented access to Iron Maiden's archives. Expect candid interviews with band members alongside commentary from actor Javier Bardem, Metallica's Lars Ulrich, Public Enemy's Chuck D, and Rage Against the Machine's Tom Morello, plus insights from their devoted global fanbase.
As frontman Bruce Dickinson declares in the trailer, "If you're an Iron Maiden fan, you're part of one family, my friends."
Bardem, sporting a classic Maiden t-shirt, hails the band as "Gods of metal," while Chuck D emphasizes their unique impact: "This group created its own universe."
Formed in 1975, Iron Maiden has become synonymous with heavy metal, boasting 17 studio albums, over 100 million records sold, and more than 2,500 performances across 64 countries. Their journey hasn't been without its challenges, including lineup changes and health issues.
Despite these hurdles, the band's popularity remains undiminished. Their iconic mascot, Eddie, is recognized worldwide.
2025 marks Iron Maiden's 50th anniversary, celebrated with the Run For Your Lives world tour, exclusive merchandise, and the release of their first official hardcover visual history, Infinite Dreams. The band is also nominated for the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame.
A separate documentary focusing on the life and health struggles of former Iron Maiden singer Paul Di’Anno titled Di’Anno: Iron Maiden’s Lost Singer is slated for release this summer through Cleopatra Entertainment. Directed by Wes Orshoski (Lemmy), the film was completed shortly before Di’Anno's passing in October 2023.
