Is This Goodbye? Trent Reznor Hints at End of Nine Inch Nails Touring

During a recent Nine Inch Nails concert in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Trent Reznor made a comment that has fans wondering about the future of the band's live performances. Reznor hinted that NIN might not be a touring act for much longer, a statement that echoes past sentiments from the frontman.

Between songs, Reznor reminisced about a memorable NIN show at Cain’s Ballroom, recalling a fan passionately singing along to "Head Like a Hole." He shared, "This is all I ever wanted in life, to connect with somebody like that dude in the back."

Reznor then added fuel to the fire: "I don’t know if we’re going to be touring anymore after this, but I’m proud of the show we’re doing right now. And I’m fuckin’ grateful that you’ve chosen to spend your evening with us tonight. Thank you very much."

Nine Inch Nails’ ongoing “Peel It Back” tour is set to continue for a few more weeks, concluding March 16 in Sacramento. Following this, they are scheduled to perform at Coachella in April with Boys Noize, under the name Nine Inch Noize. Prior to the Tulsa concert at BOK Center, there was no explicit indication that this tour would be a farewell.

Back in 2009, Reznor stated his intention to "make NIN disappear for a while," leading to the Wave Goodbye Tour. At a smaller club show in New York City, he remarked, "This is fucking tiring up here, man! I’m too old for this shit."

However, Nine Inch Nails returned in 2013 with a new album, Hesitation Marks, and a subsequent world tour. Since then, they have remained active both on stage and in the studio. Their most recent albums of original material, Ghosts V: Together and Ghosts VI: Locusts, were released in 2020, and they contributed the soundtrack for Tron: Ares last year. Reznor and Atticus Ross have also been involved in numerous film projects.
