Jessie Ware Announces 'Superbloom' Album: A Deep Dive into Romance and Pleasure

Jessie Ware is set to release her sixth studio album, ‘Superbloom’, on April 10 via Island/EMI, following up on 2023’s critically acclaimed ‘That! Feels Good!’. Fans can pre-order/pre-save the album now.

Ware recently dropped the first single from the record, ‘I Could Get Used To This’, which she describes as “the opening statement of a new era”. She also noted Grace Jones, Whitney Houston, and Barbra Streisand as major influences.

According to a press release, ‘Superbloom’ will immerse listeners in a “glittering rush of Studio 54-inflected groove-pop”. The album aims to expand on Ware’s “increasingly euphoric body of work as she explores our shared craving for touch, pleasure, intimacy and connection.”

Ware explains her inspiration:

> “Since [2020’s] ‘What’s Your Pleasure?’, I’ve been trying out this fantasy world and escapism. I’m not the most by-the-book ‘pop star’, but I do like to play with dress-up, glamour and fun.
>
>“While I love dance music, I wanted to dig deeper with this record; to connect with real relationships and appreciate the love I have, and the fears I have of losing it.”

She collaborated with James Ford, Barney Lister, Karma Kid, Jon Shave (Charli XCX) and Stuart Price (Madonna, Pet Shop Boys) on ‘Superbloom’. Ben Baptie (Sault, Little Simz, Adele) handled the mixing.

The full tracklist is still under wraps.

Ware stated that ‘I Could Get Used To This’ is an invitation into the world of the album, setting the scene of romance, real love, performance, celebration, and pleasure. She co-wrote the song with Miranda Cooper, Sophia Brenan, and Jon Shave.

‘That! Feels Good!’ earned Ware her second Mercury Prize nomination, following her debut ‘Devotion’ (2012). The album reached Number Three on the Official UK Albums Chart and marked her highest entry on the US Top Album Sales chart.

In a four-star review of ‘That! Feels Good!’, NME noted Ware's ability to find solace in piano house choruses, highlighting the aesthetic shift that has been crucial to her longevity.
