Justin Timberlake's DWI Arrest: Bodycam Footage Released After Legal Battle
After a DWI arrest in the Hamptons nearly two years ago, bodycam footage of Justin Timberlake's sobriety test has been released, revealing details of the incident.
It's been almost two years since Justin Timberlake was arrested for a DWI in the Hamptons, an incident punctuated by the now-infamous quote, "This is gonna ruin the tour." While the tour wasn't ruined, and the charge was eventually dropped in a plea deal involving a $500 fine and 25 hours of community service, the saga continues with the release of the bodycam footage, despite initial attempts to suppress it.
Timberlake's legal team initially fought to block the release, citing "an unwarranted invasion of personal privacy." However, they later agreed to make the footage public with redactions. The video reveals Timberlake stating he was on a world tour when asked if he was visiting. When the officer inquired about his role, Timberlake responded, "It's hard to explain. A world tour. I'm Justin Timberlake."
The footage captures him struggling through sobriety tests, expressing his nervousness and remarking, "By the way, these are, like, really hard tests."
A notable moment involves Estee Stanley, a friend of Timberlake, who was driving behind him with her husband Bryan Furst after they left The American Hotel. Stanley invoked NSYNC, pleading, "Can you guys please just do me a favor 'cause you loved 'Bye Bye Bye' or 'Sexyback'? Do me one favor." Reports at the time also indicated she questioned the police, "You're arresting Justin Timberlake right now?" Stanley was subsequently allowed to drive Timberlake's rental car back to his lodging.
