Kevin Morby is gearing up to release his new album, Little Wide Open, a project helmed by The National’s Aaron Dessner. The album boasts an impressive lineup of contributors, including Justin Vernon, Muna’s Katie Gavin, Sylvan Esso’s Amelia Meath, and Lucinda Williams. Set to drop on May 15 via Dead Oceans, the lead single "Javelin" is already making waves with a music video starring Morby himself alongside comedian Caleb Hearon, with a cameo from Waxahatchee’s Katie Crutchfield.
Watch the video for "Javelin" below:
Morby describes "Javelin" as a song about "being in love with someone you keep circling around the globe, relentlessly traveling through the air and down highways, and then returning home alone to middle America." He also highlighted Amelia Meath’s contribution, noting, "[Amelia] shines here, with her incredible vocals... her presence is so special that her ‘backing vocals’ can’t help but take the lead."
Accompanying Little Wide Open is an essay by Rachel Kushner titled Field Guide to the North American Troubadour. Morby will support the album with an extensive tour across Europe and North America, starting in May and continuing through mid-July. See below for a complete list of dates.
