Indie Rock Royalty: Broken Social Scene, Metric, and Stars Announce Joint Tour & New Albums

Canadian indie rock is not only alive, it's thriving! Broken Social Scene and Metric have just announced a joint summer tour with Stars, alongside the exciting news of their respective upcoming albums. The interconnectedness of these bands, particularly with Emily Haines playing vital roles in both BSS and Metric, adds to the anticipation.

BSS's Remember The Humans, their first album since 2017's Hug Of Thunder, is slated for release in May. Meanwhile, Metric's Romanticize The Dive is coming in April, following up on 2023's Romanticize The Dive.

The lead single from Remember The Humans, "Not Around Anymore," is out now. Adding to the excitement, their 2002 track "Anthems For A Seventeen Year-Old Girl" recently achieved gold certification in Canada.

Remember The Humans was produced by David Newfeld. Reflecting on the album, Charles Spearin notes, "There's a different kind of honesty in this record... we're at this 'what happens next?' stage in life."

Kevin Drew adds, "In 2026, you're going to see a lot of resurgence of people going back to the roots of who they are... I think it's art that always tries to prevail, and tries to get us back on track."

Metric's new single, "Victim Of Luck," has also been released. Emily Haines shares her perspective on the track:

> The song "Victim Of Luck" and really the entire album is about the romance of a less than perfect life. It’s about dropping the mask of self-consciousness and vanity... What we wanted is what we have and we’re not victims of anything. We dedicated our lives to each other and it’s the best feeling in the world.

Romanticize The Dive was produced by Gavin Brown, with co-production from Jimmy Shaw, Liam O’Neil, and mix engineer John O’Mahoney.
