Kodak Black Arrested on Drug Trafficking Charges in Florida
Kodak Black faces drug trafficking charges in Florida after authorities allege MDMA possession. His lawyer claims insufficient evidence and vows to fight the charges.

Kodak Black was arrested in Orange County, Florida, earlier this week on suspicion of drug trafficking, according to Orange County Inmate Records. The rapper, whose real name is Bill Kahan Kapri, is accused of trafficking MDMA in an amount greater than 10 grams but less than 200 grams. He was booked on Wednesday and his case will be considered in a circuit court.
The Orlando Police Department reported responding to reports of shots fired near 910 Fairvilla Road, which led to searching cars near the scene. A man named James Twitty was arrested and charged with cannabis possession and a firearms charge. According to the police, laboratory results confirmed the presence of MDMA exceeding the trafficking threshold. An arrest warrant was then obtained for Bill Kapri.
Kapri’s lawyer, Bradford Cohen, stated that the arrest was a “coordinated surrender” related to an incident in November 2025 when police found “a bag containing several items, including a bottle of prescription cough syrup” in a car they searched. Kapri was not in the car, but Cohen says the bottle “allegedly had Mr. Kapri’s fingerprint on it.” Cohen believes the case is legally weak.
Cohen stated, "Instead of simple possession, they doubled down and filed it as a trafficking charge. I will be fighting the charge... We look forward to yet another fruitful resolution to another case that should have never been filed.”
In a later statement, Cohen added that “no prints were usable” on any of the items, characterizing the case as "clear... targeting."
Kapri has faced previous arrests and convictions, including a federal conviction for making false statements on government forms and a state conviction for first-degree assault and battery. The federal conviction resulted in a 46-month prison sentence, which was commuted after 10 months, and 18 months of probation on the state charges.
The 28-year-old's most recent album, Just Getting Started, was released in late 2025 and peaked at Number 77 on the Billboard 200.
