Kodak Black Faces Drug Trafficking Charges in Florida Arrest
Rapper Kodak Black has been arrested in Florida on drug trafficking charges. His lawyer claims the charges are weak and should not have been filed.

Kodak Black (born Bill K. Kapri) was booked Wednesday (May 6) by the Orange County Corrections Department on charges of trafficking MDMA, commonly known as molly or ecstasy.
According to Kodak's lawyer, Bradford Cohen, the arrest was a "coordinated surrender" related to a November 2025 incident. Police discovered a bottle of prescription cough syrup during a car search, but Kodak was not in the vehicle, and his fingerprints were not on the bottle.
Cohen argues that this evidence is insufficient for a simple drug possession charge. He claims prosecutors have "doubled down and filed it as a trafficking charge," alleging a pattern of aggressive targeting of his client. Cohen stated, "We look forward to yet another fruitful resolution to another case that should have never been filed."
Billboard has reached out to the Orlando Police Department for comment.
Kodak Black rose to fame in 2014 with singles like “Skrt.” His 2018 album, Dying to Live, topped the Billboard 200 and featured the hit track “ZEZE,” which reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Throughout his career, Kodak has faced numerous legal issues, including charges for armed robbery, weapons possession, and sexual assault. In March 2020, he pleaded guilty to federal charges of lying on background check forms while buying firearms and received a 46-month prison sentence. This sentence was later commuted by President Donald Trump. Since then, Black has been arrested multiple times for trespassing, drug possession, and probation violations.
