Labrinth Sounds Off on Music Industry's 'Snakes' and 'Wolves of Wall Street'

Labrinth is back on Instagram, and he's not holding back. In a recent Notes app post, the acclaimed singer and producer unleashed his grievances about the music industry.

"WE HOVER AROUND BIG STARS HOPING TO BE IN THEIR PLACE ONE DAY LIKE SNAKES," Labrinth wrote in all caps, adding, "WAITING TO EAT THEIR OWNERS."

He argues that aspiring artists are turned into "wolves of Wall Street," sacrificing genuine relationships for fleeting opportunities.

Labrinth didn't mince words, questioning, "WHO THE F— SAID THIS IS NORMAL OR OK TO TURN WHAT I CALL GODS NOISE (our music) INTO BUSINESS TRANSACTIONS?"

He concluded his post with a defiant, "I DONT SUBSCRIBE."

In the caption, Labrinth emphasized his desire for authentic connections, expressing his aversion to being used or using others. "Fake ain’t a good business plan," he stated.

Despite his disillusionment, Labrinth found support from fellow artists. India.Arie resonated with his sentiments, commenting, "We have all felt this! I really feel you," while Lauren Jauregui showed her support with emojis. Dove Cameron added, "I genuinely think about this every day."

This isn't the first time Labrinth has used Instagram to voice his concerns. Just days prior, he slammed his record label and the HBO series Euphoria in a now-deleted post, stating, "I’M DONE WITH THIS INDUSTRY / F–K COLUMBIA / DOUBLE F–K EUPHORIA / I’M OUT."

The reasons behind Labrinth's outbursts remain unclear. He released his fourth studio album, Cosmic Opera: Act I, in January under Columbia Records. He has also been the lead score producer for Euphoria since 2019, with Season 3 slated to premiere soon.

Before signing with Columbia, Labrinth was with Simon Cowell's Syco label, where he released two albums. Since his debut in 2010, he's had seven songs on the Billboard Hot 100, including a collaboration with Euphoria star Zendaya.
