Lizzo Unleashes Empowering Anthem 'Bitch' and Announces New Album
Lizzo drops her new single 'Bitch,' a powerful anthem of self-love and reclaiming derogatory labels. The track is the title song of her upcoming album, set to release in June.
Singer Lizzo has released her new single, "Bitch," the title track from her forthcoming album, Bitch, slated for release on June 5th. The song is produced by Ricky Reed, Blake Slatkin, and Zack Sekoff, and notably interpolates Meredith Brooks’ 1997 hit of the same name.

The release is accompanied by a striking black and white music video, directed by Child, portraying Lizzo and her crew as circus performers. In the video, Lizzo boldly proclaims her independence and self-assurance with lyrics like: “She’s a bitch/ Uh you mean boss/ You been through what I been through/ You know the cost/ If I lost some followers it ain’t a loss.”
Lizzo took to social media to dedicate the song to women, stating, “This song is dedicated to the women who get called a bitch for having boundaries, for being sexual, for speaking up for themselves, for working hard and owning businesses. If we don’t smile and perform all the time we’re ‘ungrateful.’ If we run a strict program we’re ‘mean.’ If we enjoy sex we’re ‘sluts’ and shamed.”
She further declared, “This WOMANIFESTO is a declaration of independence from the bullsh*t. It’s a B!TCH summer.”
Last week, Lizzo officially announced Bitch, her third studio album. Explaining the album's title, she said, “Reclaiming the word Bitch is power — it’s taking a label once used to diminish women and turning it into a declaration of confidence, and unapologetic self-love. So many incredible women in music have used the word for positivity like Meredith Brooks and Missy Elliot. It was only fitting to name my album Bitch because it has become my favorite word when using it on my own terms and because I am 100% that bitch!”
Bitch will be Lizzo's first full solo album in four years, following 2022’s Special, and her 2025 mixtape, My Face Hurts from Smiling.
