Lizzo Vows to Fight On: 'I'm Not Afraid of the Truth'
Lizzo addresses ongoing lawsuit from former dancers, denies all accusations, and prepares for trial while releasing new music.

Lizzo was riding high after her Grammy win for “About Damn Time” and the conclusion of her Special world tour when accusations of sexual harassment and fat-shaming from former backup dancers surfaced.
Nearly three years later, Lizzo is still engaged in a legal battle. Despite the option to settle, she told Gayle King on CBS Mornings that she intends to fight the lawsuit.
"I think it is an easy out, but I’m fighting the case because I know that it’s not true," Lizzo stated in the interview.
In August 2023, Crystal Williams, Arianna Davis, and Noelle Rodriguez, three of her backup dancers, sued Lizzo, accusing her of sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment.
One of the primary accusations was that Lizzo allegedly fat-shamed Davis and subsequently fired her due to weight gain. Lizzo, known for her body positivity advocacy, told King she took the weight-shaming accusation seriously, "because of what I mean to people."
In December, a judge dismissed key claims, including the fat-shaming accusation. However, Lizzo still faces accusations of pressuring a dancer to touch a woman’s naked breast during an outing in Amsterdam's Red Light District in February 2023.
Lizzo denies this accusation and says she's ready to testify if the case goes to trial, joking, "I would look fabulous while doing it."
"I’m not afraid of the truth," she added. "The truth is less salacious than the headlines."
Lizzo’s interview with King comes on the heels of the release of her new song “Bitch,” which serves as the lead track off her upcoming album Bitch, out June 5. Produced by Ricky Reed, Blake Slatkin, and Zack Sekoff, the track samples Meredith Brooks’ 1997 feminist anthem of the same name and Missy Elliott’s song, “She’s a Bitch.”
“I feel like what both of those women did was they pushed that word forward in a way that empowered it, instead of taking the power away,” Lizzo explained.
