Madonna's "I Feel So Free" Tops Billboard's New Music Poll

Listeners have spoken, and Madonna reigns supreme in this week's fan-voted new music poll. Her latest single, "I Feel So Free," has resonated deeply, securing the top spot against a backdrop of fresh releases from other prominent artists.

Published on Friday (April 18) on Billboard, the poll showcased a diverse range of new music, including tracks from Olivia Rodrigo, Tyla feat. Zara Larsson, Lana Del Rey, sombr, and more. However, it was Madonna who ultimately captured the majority of votes, leading the pack with an impressive 40% by Sunday's close.

"I Feel So Free" made its debut on iHeartRadio's Pride station on Friday. Following this premiere, the track became available on streaming services, accompanied by an official visualizer. This release coincided with Madonna's surprise appearance during Sabrina Carpenter's Coachella set, where the two artists performed iconic duets of "Vogue" and "Like a Prayer."

The song itself is an anthem of liberation, celebrating the solace and freedom found in dance. The lyrics explore themes of trust and vulnerability, highlighting the sense of security and community that dancing can provide: "It’s really hard for me to trust people/ Can you blame me?/ I never know what people like me/ That’s why I like to go dancing/ Safety in numbers/ That’s why I like to go dancing/ Safety in numbers."

This single serves as a prelude to Madonna's forthcoming album, Confessions II, a sequel to her acclaimed 2005 album, Confessions on a Dance Floor. The new album is scheduled for release on July 3 via Warner Records.

Following "I Feel So Free" in the poll results, Olivia Rodrigo's "Drop Dead" secured 31% of the vote, while Tyla feat. Zara Larsson's "She Did It Again" garnered nearly 16%. Lana Del Rey's "First Light" and sombr's "Potential" rounded out the top five.
