Olivia Rodrigo unveils "Drop Dead," the lead single from her highly anticipated album you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, teasing fans with lyrical billboards and a Petra Collins-directed music video.

After much anticipation, Olivia Rodrigo has officially announced her new album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love. The album, a followup to Guts and produced by Daniel Nigro, is set to drop in June, and the lead single "Drop Dead" is finally here.
The pop star teased "Drop Dead" with murals and billboards in LA displaying the lyric, "'Cause I got chewing gum and a bunch of stuff you'd like to know." She's also been spotted with Geese frontman Cameron Winter, resulting in his TMZ debut.
"Drop Dead" is accompanied by a music video directed by Petra Collins, a frequent collaborator of Rodrigo. The video features the artist dancing around the Palace of Versailles.
"I love this song so much!!!" Rodrigo shared. "It’s the first chapter in the story of ‘you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love’ and it makes me wanna skip around and roll the windows down and make out!"
Paul Cartwright arranged the strings for "Drop Dead" alongside Nigro, and Amy Allen, who contributed to Guts, is credited as a co-lyricist with Nigo and Rodrigo. Aside from Cartwright on violin/viola and Sterling Laws on drums, Nigro played all the instruments.
Details about the LP remain scarce, though a recent Vogue article hinted at Rodrigo's "most experimental" work yet. The article also revealed that she had been in the studio with Robert Smith, her duet partner on The Cure's "Just Like Heaven" at last year's Glastonbury. "Drop Dead" includes the lyric "You know all the words to 'Just Like Heaven' / And I know why he wrote them / Now that you're standin' right here."
