Mallory Hawk Announces Debut Album 'Chinook,' Shares '90s-Inspired Single "Revolver"
Mallory Hawk, formerly of Customer, Trace Mountains and M(h)aol, announces her debut solo album, Chinook, and drops a new single, "Revolver," a '90s-inspired track with a nostalgic music video.

Mallory Hawk is gearing up to release her debut album. Hawk, known for fronting the Brooklyn band Customer and her involvement with Trace Mountains and M(h)aol, has announced Chinook, her first solo LP. The album's title is inspired by the Chinook helicopters that were a constant presence in her hometown of Fayetteville. The album will feature last fall's single "Felicity," along with her brand new track "Revolver."
"Revolver" steadily builds into a satisfying climax, evoking '90s alternative folk-pop with a touch of twang. It sounds like it would have been a hit during the peak of VH1 and Lilith Fair, alongside artists like Lisa Loeb and Sheryl Crow. The music video directly references that era, as Hawk explains:
> I’m a student of the 90s music video with a brunette singer-songwriter in her sunny loft. I wanted to make a casual video that was just a warm day at home writing the song, which is how it went down in reality. The beginning pays homage to Alanis Morissette’s "You Learn" video, where she begins with a handstand then takes off into her day. I knew I wanted the camera to "revolve," so my friend Colin pulled together some gadgets and lights and we shot the whole video in my living room. I was dog-sitting my friend’s dogs Connie and Vinny at the time and they really stole the show.
The "Revolver" video was directed by Aldo Fisk. Check it out below.
