Maren Morris Drops Cathartic New Single 'Parachute' Ahead of 'Sheriff Country' Acting Debut

Maren Morris has released “Parachute,” a brand-new single crafted for the CBS drama series, Sheriff Country. Not only did she write and record the song for the show, but she's also set to appear in tonight's episode, marking her official acting debut.
“Parachute,” produced by Jimmy Robbins, a frequent collaborator of Morris, delves into the powerful themes of renewal, self-forgiveness, and emotional rebirth.
According to Morris, “Writing ‘Parachute’ was a really cathartic experience for me. Tapping into the forgiveness of oneself is such an underrated emotion written about. The fact that it will soundtrack the episode I’m acting in is even more emotional. I had the best day on set and can’t wait to see this titular episode of a stellar first season of Sheriff Country.”
In the episode, Morris takes on the role of Hazel, a sponsor to one of the show's central characters. The episode airs on CBS today, May 15, at 8 p.m. Sheriff Country was co-created by Max Thieriot, who also co-created Fire Country, which has previously featured musical guest stars like Kane Brown and Jelly Roll.
Morris’ latest album, Dreamsicle, was released last year. The LP is her fourth full-length album and her first since 2022’s Humble Quest. It featured all five songs from her 2024 EP Intermission. She will be touring in support of the LP next month, kicking off in Calgary, Alberta, on June 13 and continuing down the west coast with stops in Las Vegas, Denver, Salt Lake City, Seattle, and more. Scout Willis is supporting on all 12 dates.
