Mystery Vinyl Sparks Frenzy: Is **Lewis Capaldi** About to Drop New Music?

A "mystery vinyl" with pitched-down vocals has arrived in record stores, and fans are playing detective, trying to guess which artist is teasing a new release.

Shops in the UK and US, including Rough Trade, recently received shipments of these "mystery" records. The vinyls bear no artist name or title, featuring a plain white sleeve and no identifying marks on the record itself.

The vinyls have been offered to customers for free, with some reports suggesting that employees have hinted at a sneak preview of a new song from "a major artist" slated for official release soon.

Listeners who've taken the record home have quickly discerned that the song is a piano-based ballad, its vocals deliberately pitched-down to obscure the singer's identity.

"Don't give up on us," the male vocalist sings, leading into a powerful, lovelorn chorus seemingly repeating the phrase "Stay low."

The internet sleuths have been quick to offer their guesses, and many believe the song is an upcoming single from Lewis Capaldi, citing vocal inflections and the overall romantic tone.

"It's think it's Lewis, I've pitched it up with a software and that sounds like his accent," one person commented on a TikTok post. "AND on another video of this vinyl I heard that in the lyrics he says something like 'This ain't love'... that is exactly the name of an unreleased song that you can find listed on ACE Repertory. I'm 99 per cent sure."

Others have chimed in with similar sentiments, drawing comparisons to James Arthur. "Lewis Capaldi? it sounds like his vocals but also giving James Arthur, hmmmm," someone speculated on Twitter/X, before someone else said that they were "sure" that it was the Scottish pop star. "I've also seen him live several times and his voice stood out straight away when I heard this."

Other names tossed into the ring include The 1975, Bon Iver, and Niall Horan. One TikTok user even suggested Paul McCartney, drawing a parallel between the white cover and The Beatles' 'White Album,' though this theory seems less plausible given the mystery track's vocal style and songwriting.

I’m sure it’s him. I’ve also seen him live several times and his voice stood out straight away when I heard this.

James Arthur was the first person I thought about. Then James Blake, but they don’t have his same inflections.

If the speculation proves true, a new single from Capaldi could arrive just in time for his summer appearances at BST Hyde Park and Roundhay Festival 2026.

Capaldi made his return last November with the 'Survive' EP, his first new music since his 2023 album 'Broken By Desire to Be Heavenly Sent'.

The EP followed his surprise set on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury this year. This performance was particularly moving, given his break from live performances that began after he had to cut his 2023 Glastonbury set short due to struggles with Tourette's-related tics.

Since his comeback, Capaldi has made a surprise appearance at a charity event alongside Matty Healy, appeared in Taylor Swift's 'Opalite' music video, and hinted at new music on the horizon.
