Argentinian duo CA7RIEL and Paco Amoroso are gearing up for the release of their new album, Free Spirits, next week. Today, they've dropped their latest single, "Goo Goo Ga Ga," featuring none other than comedic icon Jack Black. The track is undeniably weird, yet surprisingly playful.
The core of the song grapples with themes of mortality and the anxieties of aging, as reflected in lyrics like "La juventud se me fue/ No sé si la aproveché/ Quisiera ser un bebé" (My youth is gone/ I don't know if I took advantage of it/ I wish I was a baby). Simultaneously, it playfully engages with familiar pop song tropes. Ca7riel, Amoroso, and Black all contribute vocals, singing about the desire to be someone's baby, the prospect of having a baby, and simply being a baby themselves.
The accompanying music video, directed by Ferina, visually represents this return to infancy through a futuristic cryo-cerebral rebirth experience. It seems to be a commentary on reconnecting with one's inner child in the face of the overwhelming pressures of adulthood. Yet, it's definitely on the stranger side.
