Olivia Rodrigo and Addison Rae's Surprise Coachella Duet: 'Drop Dead' Debut

Olivia Rodrigo surprised fans at Coachella Saturday night (April 18) by joining Addison Rae on stage. The duo performed Rodrigo's brand-new single, “Drop Dead,” marking its live debut. This unexpected collaboration electrified the audience during Rae’s set.

Rodrigo initially joined Rae to sing “Headphones On,” a track from Rae’s album, Addison. The unannounced appearance sent waves of excitement through the festival’s main stage.

As The Hollywood Reporter noted, Addison sang the line “I compare myself to the new It Girl” from “Headphones On,” cueing Olivia’s entrance. The crowd in Indio, Calif., erupted in applause as the pair transitioned into Rodrigo’s “Drop Dead.”

Throughout the performance, Rae and Rodrigo traded verses, their energy infectious as they moved around the stage, further hyping up the enthusiastic crowd.

“Drop Dead” serves as the lead single from Rodrigo’s forthcoming third album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love. The song was released alongside a Petra Collins-directed music video filmed at the Palace of Versailles.

Rodrigo described the album's concept to British Vogue, stating, “I realized all my favorite romantic love songs were beautiful because they had a tinge of fear or yearning in them.” She also revealed the collection would be full of “sad love songs.”

You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love is scheduled for release on June 12 via Geffen. Before the album drops, Rodrigo is set to host and perform as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live on May 2.
