Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr Reunite on New Track "Home to Us"

Paul McCartney has just unveiled his first-ever duet with fellow Beatle, Ringo Starr. "Home to Us" serves as the latest preview of McCartney’s forthcoming fifth solo album, The Boys of Dungeon Lane. The track also boasts backing vocals from Chrissie Hynde and Sharleen Spiteri.

"Home to Us" stands out as the only track on The Boys of Dungeon Lane to feature a guest drummer. The song was built around a drum track that McCartney and producer Andrew Watt requested Starr to record for the album. Initially, Starr intended to contribute only a line or two, but McCartney encouraged him to participate in a full duet.

"In writing the song I’m talking about where we came from. In common with a lot of people, you come from nothing and you build yourself up,” McCartney shared in a statement. “Ringo was from the Dingle, and that was well hard. He said he used to get mugged coming home, because he worked. Even though it was crazy, it was home to us."

This collaboration marks McCartney and Starr’s first since 2023’s "Now and Then," a track based on a vocal recording from John Lennon that was discovered in 1994. The idea of using the vocal was initially shelved due to poor audio quality. However, AI technology, introduced to McCartney and Starr by director Peter Jackson, enabled them to utilize it. It was promoted as the “final” Beatles song and was accompanied by a music video directed by Jackson.

The Boys of Dungeon Lane, scheduled for release on May 29 via MPL/Capital, is presented as an autobiographical exploration of McCartney’s childhood in post-war Liverpool. The lead single, “Days We Left Behind,” was released in March.
