In a career spanning decades, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr have finally recorded their first official duet. The song, titled “Home To Us,” is featured on McCartney’s upcoming LP, The Boys Of Dungeon Lane.

"In writing the song I’m talking about where we came from," McCartney told the press at Abbey Road on May 5. He elaborated on their shared background, noting, "In common with a lot of people, you come from nothing, and you build yourself up. Ringo was from the Dingle, and that was well hard... Even though it was crazy, it was home to us.”

McCartney detailed the collaborative process: “I made the song around that idea and sent it to Ringo. He sent me back a version where he just added some lines to the chorus... So we took my first line, Ringo’s second line, and then we had a duet. We’d never done that before... Chrissie Hynde said she’d do it, and Sharleen Spiteri, they’re mates. So they did it.”

Produced by Andrew Watt, The Boys Of Dungeon Lane is steeped in nostalgia. The title itself comes from a line in “Days We Left Behind,” referencing McCartney’s childhood playing near Liverpool’s River Mersey. The album also touches on his bond with John Lennon.

"This was a lot of memories of Liverpool for me," McCartney shared. "[The song] has memories of John in the middle, that’s lovely to go back to.” When asked about a “secret code” with Lennon, he playfully responded, “I’m not telling... You make a lot of stuff up when you write songs.”

Other tracks delve into different periods of McCartney's life. “Salesman Saint” reflects on his parents' experiences during World War II, while “Down South” revisits the early days of The Beatles. “As You Lie There” recalls an unrequited childhood crush.

Coincidentally, on the same day as McCartney's album preview in London, The Rolling Stones were in New York City promoting their Andrew Watt-produced album, Foreign Tongues, which features McCartney on one track.

While The Rolling Stones' touring plans remain uncertain, Ringo Starr is set to continue his All Starr Band tour, starting May 28 in Temecula, California.
