Paul McCartney Unpacks New Album in Amazon Live Interview with Paul Mescal
Paul McCartney delves into the stories behind his new album, 'The Boys Of Dungeon Lane,' in an exclusive Amazon Live interview with actor Paul Mescal, who will portray him in the upcoming Beatles biopic.
Hot on the heels of his new album, The Boys Of Dungeon Lane, Paul McCartney is offering fans an intimate look into his Liverpool origins with a new interview special. Available now on Amazon Live and the Amazon Music app, the special features McCartney in conversation with actor Paul Mescal, who is set to play him in the forthcoming Beatles biopics directed by Sam Mendes.
The interview focuses on the backstories of several tracks from The Boys Of Dungeon Lane, including "Down South," "Home To Us," "Lost Horizon," "Salesman Saint," and "Days We Left Behind." Viewers can expect to learn about McCartney's songwriting process, as well as early memories of his parents and bandmates. Charlotte Wells directed the special.
Mescal shared his enthusiasm for the project, stating, "It was one of the greatest personal and professional privileges of my life to sit down with Paul... It’s a day I’ll never forget."

McCartney has been actively promoting his new album, with recent appearances on the SNL season finale and Stephen Colbert's Late Show, returning to the historic Ed Sullivan Theater. On Colbert, McCartney playfully called Mescal "very cute" but declared himself cuter. He also recently released the Dungeon Lane single "Home To Us," a duet with Ringo Starr.
In a recent BBC Radio 2 interview, McCartney also shared his thoughts on today's leading pop stars: "I've met a few of these girls and admired what they're doing... Taylor's very good. She's clever." When asked about offering advice to younger artists, he said, "I'm like the older brother to that generation. More like the grandad, actually." McCartney also mentioned a house party with Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, Billie Eilish, and Olivia Rodrigo, and reminisced about his last meeting with Bob Dylan at Desert Trip a decade ago.
