Peter Frampton Announces 'Carry the Light,' His First Album in 16 Years, Featuring Sheryl Crow, Tom Morello, and More
Peter Frampton returns with Carry the Light, his first album of original music in 16 years, featuring collaborations with Sheryl Crow, Tom Morello, H.E.R., and others. The album arrives May 15.

Peter Frampton, the celebrated guitarist who initially planned to retire in 2019 following a degenerative muscle disease diagnosis, is back in the studio. He's creating his first album of original music in 16 years. Carry the Light, co-written and produced with his son Julian Frampton, boasts a stellar lineup of guest musicians, including Sheryl Crow, Tom Morello, Bill Evans, H.E.R., and Graham Nash. The album is set to release on May 15 via UMe.
Frampton expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating in a press release that the album “was one of my most enjoyable projects ever. I got to work with my son Julian—writing and producing together. A first of many for us I’m sure.” The lead single, “Buried Treasure,” features Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers keyboardist Benmont Tench and is a tribute to Petty, incorporating lyrics from various songs throughout Petty's career.
Despite his Inclusion-Body Myositis diagnosis, Frampton returned to touring in 2023, performing seated during his U.S. tour. He was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as part of the class of 2024.
