Rihanna Confirms Studio Time Amidst Fashion Empire and Family Life: Is R9 Finally Coming?

Rihanna, who has teased fans for years about her first new album in a decade, has finally shared some proof that she is indeed working on new music. In an 80-second Instagram Reel, titled “A Night in the Life,” the singer documents a late-night (or rather, early-morning) session at the recording studio.
The video opens with Rihanna attending a meeting for her lingerie brand (the entire Reel is playfully captioned “commercial break”), reviewing designs (some strategically blurred), autographing records, and sharing some laughs at 1:30 a.m.
Around 2 a.m., Rihanna announces her departure for the studio to lay down some tracks for her upcoming, yet-to-be-officially-announced ninth album, followed by the task of creating a Mardi Gras costume for her son. “Longest day ever,” she remarks to her team, who are still hard at work.
Rihanna joins her studio team, recording until 5:05 a.m., though the audio remains a mystery. "We should have coffee someday, get to know each other,” Rihanna says. By 6:50 a.m., she transitions to “Mom duties,” crafting and modeling the Mardi Gras costume. The timestamp eventually fades, suggesting the videographer's well-deserved rest.
While Rihanna hasn't shared any snippets from the album, she's been far from idle since Anti. She released “Life Me Up” from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, delivered a memorable performance at the 2023 Super Bowl halftime show, and voiced Smurfette in the latest Smurfs movie.
