On Sunday night, shots were fired at Rihanna's home in Los Angeles, prompting an immediate investigation. The Los Angeles Police Department has since released further details regarding the incident, including the arrest of a suspect.

The Shooting at Rihanna’s Home

Around 1:21 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, at least ten shots were fired at Rihanna's residence, according to the Los Angeles Times. The shots reportedly originated from a white Tesla parked across the street. Bullet holes were found in the front gate of the property, according to NBC News. Thankfully, Rihanna, her partner A$AP Rocky, and their children were all present at the time but remained physically unharmed.

A Suspect Is Arrested Shortly After the Shooting

The primary suspect was apprehended on suspicion of attempted murder, a felony, as confirmed by an LAPD representative to Rolling Stone. Officers located the white Tesla a half-hour after the 911 call and followed it to a shopping center in Sherman Oaks. LAPD spokesperson Armen Arias stated that an assault rifle and seven casings were discovered in the vehicle. According to NBC, the suspect allegedly used an AR-15-style rifle. The suspect was booked shortly after 2 a.m. on Monday, with bail set at $10.225 million. Official charges are pending.

LAPD Identify Suspect as Ivanna Lissete Ortiz

The LAPD identified the shooter as 35-year-old Ivanna Lisette Ortiz. Her records describe her as having blond hair and brown eyes. Ortiz, a licensed speech pathologist, has previous arrest records in Florida related to a 2013 bankruptcy case, careless driving in 2021, and domestic violence and battery in 2023. Ortiz's social media profiles identify her as an Illinois native, currently residing in Orlando.

Ivanna Ortiz Criminally Charged

Ortiz has been charged with one count of attempted murder, nine counts of assault with a firearm, two counts of shooting into an inhabited dwelling, and one count of shooting at a motor vehicle, reports the Times. She did not enter a plea at the hearing; her arraignment is scheduled for March 26.

No Motive Has Yet Been Revealed

While the LAPD has identified Ortiz as the suspect, they have not disclosed any potential motives for the shooting. There is no reported connection between Ortiz and Rihanna or A$AP Rocky.

The New York Post has shared concerning social media posts apparently belonging to Ortiz, directly addressing Rihanna. One X post from February 23 reads. “@badgalriri — Are you there? ’Cause I was waiting for your AIDS 5-head self to say something to me directly instead of sneaking around like you’re talking to me where I’m not at.” Ortiz also runs a YouTube channel where she posts a video series titled “Praying Woman’s Journal.”
