Shia LaBeouf Arrested for Battery in New Orleans Mardi Gras Incident
Shia LaBeouf has been arrested and charged with battery following an alleged assault of two men during Mardi Gras celebrations in New Orleans. The actor is accused of punching two men in separate incidents.
Reports indicate that Shia LaBeouf has been arrested and charged with two counts of simple battery following an alleged altercation during Mardi Gras festivities in New Orleans.
According to police reports, the Transformers actor allegedly punched one man multiple times and then reportedly punched another man in the nose. The incidents led to his arrest.
The New Orleans Police Department stated that they responded to a call at 12:45 AM on Tuesday, February 17th, from a business on Royal Street in the French Quarter. A staff member reported being punched by a man identified as 39-year-old Shia LaBeouf.
"A man identified as 39-year-old Shia LaBeouf was reportedly causing a disturbance and becoming increasing[ly] aggressive at a Royal Street business,” the statement read (via Sky News). “Once removed from the building, the victim reported being struck by LaBeouf who used his closed fists on the victim several times.”
Authorities claim that LaBeouf left the scene but returned, allegedly acting "even more aggressive." He reportedly punched the initial victim again before assaulting another man by punching him in the nose. He was then restrained until police arrived. The second victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries before LaBeouf was released and charged. Representatives for LaBeouf have yet to respond to requests for comment.

Prior to the arrest, The Hollywood Reporter described LaBeouf as being "on an extended-weekend bar crawl in the city’s Uptown neighbourhood since Thursday (February 12)."
Robert Skuse, a doorman at Ms Mae’s, described the actor as "inebriated" and "somewhat belligerent" during a visit on Sunday, February 15th. He reportedly arrived at the bar without a shirt or cash. Another witness claimed to have seen the actor at the Dos Jefes jazz club, stating that he was “louder than everyone and was giving acting instructions to a girl at the bar.”
One bar employee stated, “He is terrorising the city!”
On February 15th, LaBeouf posted an image of himself on X (Twitter) wearing Mardi Gras beads.
LaBeouf, known for his early role in the Disney Channel series Even Stevens, recently appeared in the 2025 films Henry Johnson and Salvable, and in the documentary Slauson Rec, which explores the experimental acting collective he founded in 2018.
