Sky Ferreira Claims Charli XCX Recorded Her Old Songs: A Deep Dive into the Controversy
Sky Ferreira suggests that Charli XCX's Wuthering Heights album contains songs lifted from her unreleased demos, sparking controversy and reigniting discussions about her long-awaited album Masochism.
It's always a treat when the enigmatic Sky Ferreira lends her vocals to a track, even if it's seemingly not her own. This happened recently on "Eyes Of The World," a collaboration with Charli XCX from the latter's Wuthering Heights album. However, Ferreira has hinted that her involvement might be deeper than initially perceived.
Back in February, following the release of Wuthering Heights, Ferreira responded to an Instagram meme about Charli pulling her into the studio. Her comment? "To record my old songs," leaving fans intrigued.

More recently, a fan named Leon (@skyferrori) shared a now-deleted screenshot on X, alleging that an "industry insider" claimed that tracks like "Chains Of Love" and "Alters" from Wuthering Heights were based on unreleased Ferreira demos. Leon further fueled the fire by reposting a clip of Ferreira's "Everything Is Embarrassing" video, questioning her income source.

While Ferreira isn't on X, she responded to Leon's comments on Instagram, stating: "I toured for years. I work. I hate to break it to you, but your favorite artist records my old songs." She elaborated further, addressing the rumors and her past struggles:
>I wasn't going to say anything. I’m over being dragged & humiliated for no reason. It brought back a lot of things I have worked really hard to move past. No one “saved” or helped me. My life was destroyed for over 10 years & it’s a public joke. Publications etc. It isn't funny. It allows people to disrespect & take advantage of me, or to manipulate multiple situations based on their perception of me. I wasn't allowed to do anything. I mind my own business so I don't know why everything is so loaded. I don't want to be harassed. I don't want the actions of multiple people fucking things up for me & my album. I’m an honest person. People don't care about the truth. It's about whatever narrative is fitting or more exciting. I’m glad I can finally move on with my life.
Charli XCX previously collaborated with Ferreira on her 2019 single "Cross You Out." This followed the release of Ferreira's "Downhill Lullaby," which was intended as the lead single for her highly anticipated sophomore album, Masochism. Since then, she has released "Don't Forget" and "Leash."
