Snoop Dogg and Tori Kelly have joined forces to create the theme track for the highly anticipated action-adventure game, Stranger Than Heaven. This game is a spin-off from the acclaimed Like A Dragon series.
Scheduled for release later this year, Stranger Than Heaven promises a compelling narrative and fresh gameplay mechanics.
A new trailer unveiled earlier this week offered fans a sneak peek at the game and its official theme song, ‘Stranger Than Heaven’. The track is a collaboration featuring Snoop Dogg, Tori Kelly, alongside prominent Japanese musicians Satoshi Fujihara and Ado. Ado herself described the collaboration as "a luxurious collaboration that’s so extravagant it’s almost beyond comprehension,” on X.
All four artists will also lend their voices to characters within the game. Snoop Dogg will voice Orpheus, Tori Kelly will play Kelly Day, Ado will voice Keiko Shirai, and Satoshi Fujihara will portray Takashi.
Stranger Than Heaven is described as a sprawling saga set over fifty years, focusing on characters seeking belonging and survival. Players will navigate five eras of modern Japan, utilizing both combat skills and musical talent.
The game unfolds across five cities, each meticulously modeled after real locations: Fukuoka (1915), Hiroshima (1929), Osaka (1943), Shizuoka (1951), and Tokyo (1965).
While the game promises action, a key element involves the protagonist Makoto's journey as a showman. Players will orchestrate concerts, gather rumors to scout talent, and create original music by sampling everyday sounds.
Developers explain, “By combining these sounds, Makoto can craft original tracks, brand new music for the whole nation to hear. From there, he’ll choose the setlist, arrange the band, assign a cast, and design the production—from lighting colours to staging—all in an effort to bring each show to life. As you tour the country staging performances and captivating audiences, you’ll experience Makoto’s rags-to-riches rise to success as a master showman.”
Stranger Than Heaven is slated for release this winter on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC.
