Ted Lucas' Lost Recordings Unearthed in Career-Spanning 'Images of Life' Box Set

Third Man Records is set to release Images of Life, a career-spanning box set by the enigmatic guitarist and songwriter Ted Lucas. Available May 22nd on vinyl and streaming platforms, this collection offers a deep dive into Lucas's musical evolution.

Images of Life is comprised of three distinct LPs. Strange Mysterious Sounds (1965-1970) highlights Lucas's early band endeavors. Rainy Days (1970-1974) compiles solo material leading up to his 1975 self-titled album. And Impossible Love (1979) presents a previously unreleased album produced by Don Was.

Fans can get a taste of what's to come with the early streaming release of Rainy Days:

During the late 1960s, Lucas honed his skills, studying sitar under Ravi Shankar and contributing to Motown sessions. Despite early setbacks, including his bands being dropped by Warner Bros. and his solo demo being rejected by then-head Mo Ostin, Lucas persevered. He self-released his demos as The OM Album. Third Man reissued an expanded edition of this album last year as Ted Lucas.
