The Rolling Stones Announce 'Foreign Tongues' Album Featuring McCartney, Robert Smith, and Charlie Watts
The Rolling Stones are set to release Foreign Tongues, the follow-up to Hackney Diamonds, on July 10. The album boasts collaborations with Paul McCartney, Robert Smith, and the late Charlie Watts.
The Rolling Stones have officially announced Foreign Tongues, their new album teased last month. The 14-track album is slated for release on July 10 via Capitol Records.
According to reports, the album features notable contributions from Paul McCartney, Robert Smith of The Cure, and Steve Winwood. Furthermore, the late Charlie Watts makes posthumous appearances on tracks salvaged from the Hackney Diamonds sessions.
Fans can now view the Foreign Tongues cover art by Nathaniel Mary Quinn, and listen to the single “In the Stars.”
Leading up to the announcement, the Stones sparked excitement in April with cryptic posters in Camden Town, London, promoting their “Cockroaches” pseudonym.
Later, The Times revealed the release of “Rough and Twisted” as a limited-edition vinyl exclusive. A secretive website then surfaced, revealing GPS coordinates for independent record stores carrying the release.
Andrew Watt, the producer behind Hackney Diamonds and Paul McCartney's new album, also helmed this LP.
"It was a very intense few weeks recording Foreign Tongues,” Mick Jagger stated. “We went as fast as we could.”
Keith Richards added, “The Foreign Tongues album has a continuity from Hackney Diamonds and it was great to be working in London again, and to have that London vibe around us. It was a month of concentrated punch. To me, it's all about the enjoyment of it.”
