The xx Reunite After Eight Years with Electrifying Mexico City Performance

After an eight-year absence, The xx have triumphantly returned to the stage, kicking off their "next chapter" with a sold-out performance in Mexico City.

The trio, comprised of Romy, Oliver Sim, and Jamie xx, graced the stage at Mexico City’s Pepsi Center, delivering a 19-song setlist. The performance included tracks from their three collaborative albums, as well as solo material released since their last performance in 2018.

The show opened with "Crystalised" from their 2009 debut xx, and featured fan favorites like “Islands,” “Say Something Loving,” “I Dare You,” and “Intro.”

A mid-show interlude spotlighted each member's solo work, with Jamie xx performing “Loud Places,” Sim showcasing “GMT,” and Romy delivering “Enjoy Your Life.” The night concluded with a three-song encore featuring “Night Time,” “Sunset,” and “Infinity.”

While Jamie xx notably included his bandmates in his 2024 Glastonbury set, this Mexico City show marked the first full The xx gig since July 2018. The band is set to perform two more sold-out shows at the Pepsi Center before embarking on a summer tour that includes stops at Coachella, Salt Lake City’s Kilby Block Party, and San Francisco’s Outside Lands.

"It’s been a while since our last show together as The xx. In 2026, we share our music with you all live again,” The xx wrote on social media when the Mexico shows were announced. “This is the start of a next chapter together, and there’s no better place to return than in front of our Mexican fans. We’ve always felt a deep connection to Mexico – the warmth, the openness, the energy from the crowd. Thank you for waiting for us and we can’t wait to see you soon!”
