Tomahawk Reunites with Melvins for First Tour in 13 Years
Supergroup Tomahawk, featuring Mike Patton, Duane Denison, John Stanier, and Trevor Dunn, announces a U.S. summer tour with support from the Melvins, marking their first performances in 13 years.
The dynamic supergroup Tomahawk is back! After a 13-year hiatus, the band—comprising Faith No More’s Mike Patton, The Jesus Lizard’s Duane Denison, Battles’ John Stanier, and Mr. Bungle’s Trevor Dunn—has announced a U.S. summer tour, supported by the inimitable Melvins.
Denison shared his enthusiasm in a press release, stating, “In the spirit of the Olympics, Team Tomahawk has decided to rise up and go for the gold once again—also competing will be our cohorts the Melvins.”
Buzz Osborne of the Melvins added, “This tour is a no brainer. I can’t wait. A Melvins/Tomahawk trek will be a stone groove.” Fans can expect a powerful four-piece Melvins lineup, including Dale Crover, Steven McDonald, and Coady Willis.
Tomahawk released three albums in the 2000s, initially featuring Melvins bassist Kevin Rutmanis. Dunn took over bass duties in time for their 2013 reunion album, Oddfellows, and the band reassembled in 2021 for Tonic Immobility, a pandemic-era album that never saw a live performance – until now!
