Zara Larsson Sets the Record Straight: No Fifth Harmony for Me!
Zara Larsson addresses rumors about potentially joining Fifth Harmony after Camila Cabello's departure, clarifying her stance on girl groups and solo careers.
Zara Larsson has finally addressed the long-standing rumors about whether she was ever considered to replace Camila Cabello in Fifth Harmony. Speaking to music journalist Tomás Mier in the Spotify Live Room, the Swedish pop star put the speculation to rest.
"Oh, no. I don’t do groups,” she stated definitively. “I would never be in a group.”
While she may not see herself in a group, Larsson expressed her appreciation for girl groups in general. “I love a girl group,” she said. “I just couldn’t take not singing lead all the time.”

Larsson has history with Fifth Harmony, having toured with them in 2014 as an opening act on Cher Lloyd’s I Wish tour. “I actually loved to be on that tour,” she recalled fondly. “That’s memories for life. What a good time that was. What an era.”
Fifth Harmony was formed in 2012 during the second season of The X Factor USA. The original lineup featured Cabello, Ally Brooke, Dinah Jane, Lauren Jauregui, and Normani Kordei. Cabello's departure in 2016 led to the group continuing as a four-piece until their hiatus in 2018.
In 2023, Fifth Harmony, without Cabello, reunited at a Jonas Brothers show in Dallas, performing “Worth It” and “Work From Home.” This appearance followed years of speculation regarding a potential reunion.
The members of Fifth Harmony have maintained positive relationships in recent years. All five members, including Cabello, shared tributes for the group's 10th anniversary in 2022 and supported Normani's debut album release last summer. Recently, Cabello posted videos of herself dancing to Fifth Harmony’s “Work From Home” with Katseye and mentioned in December 2024 that she and Normani were reconnecting.
