Ariana Grande Announces New Single 'Hate That I Made You Love Me' from Upcoming Album 'Petal'

Ariana Grande is officially entering her Petal era. The pop icon announced on Friday, May 8th, that the lead single from her highly anticipated eighth studio album will be titled "Hate That I Made You Love Me," and it's scheduled for release in just a few weeks.

Sharing the black-and-white artwork for the track – a close-up of Grande's face with her hair partially obscuring her eyes, reminiscent of the Petal album cover – she posted on Instagram: "hate that i made you love me … my first single off of petal."

Describing the song as "one of my favorite songs i’ll ever write," Grande revealed that she co-produced "Hate That I Made You Love Me" with Max Martin and ILYA, whom she praised as "my favorite collaborators and dearest human beings in the world."

"i simply cannot wait for it to be yours," the Grammy-winning artist added.

The new single is set to debut on May 29th, approximately two months ahead of the Petal album release at the end of July. This project will follow her successful 2024 album, Eternal Sunshine, which topped the Billboard 200 chart and produced two No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100: "Yes, And?" and "We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love)."

Prior to the single announcement, Grande shared a video providing fans with more insight into the album's themes. "It’s a little feral," she explained. "It’s definitely from a place I’ve been maybe too shy or polite to tap into before. This kind of just feels like, ‘F–k it.’"
