Bring Me The Horizon's Oli Sykes Hit by Phone Onstage, Suffers Concussion
Bring Me The Horizon frontman Oli Sykes was struck by a phone thrown from the crowd during a recent performance in St. Louis, resulting in a mild concussion. This incident follows a string of similar events targeting musicians.
The alarming trend of concertgoers throwing objects at performers continues. Just last week, Eric Clapton halted an encore in Madrid after being targeted with a vinyl sleeve. Now, Bring Me The Horizon's frontman Oli Sykes has become the latest victim, struck by a phone during a show in St. Louis.
The incident occurred at the Enterprise Center near the end of "Happy Song." While difficult to discern in fan-captured footage, the impact is undeniable. Following the incident, Sykes visibly struggled, frequently touching his forehead throughout the remainder of the performance.
In an update shared on his Instagram Story, Sykes reassured fans, stating he's "all good." He elaborated, "The phone to the head definitely smarted and I ended up with a mild concussion, but the swelling's gone down a decent amount already."
He continued, "Last night I was struggling a bit on stage afterwards because singing was putting a lot of pressure on the wound and making things feel a bit disorienting while performing, so I'm sorry on my part for what may of seemed like a half hearted performance," he continued. "Appreciate everyone checking in and worrying about me though Everything should be fine for tonight's gig."
This incident echoes a similar event in March when country singer Riley Green required five stitches after being hit by a phone thrown from the audience. The increasing frequency of these incidents raises serious concerns about concert safety and audience behavior.
