BTS Announces Comeback Livestream, Netflix Documentary 'The Return'

BTS is making a grand return! The global superstars have announced both a livestream performance and a new documentary set to air on Netflix, in collaboration with Hybe.

The livestream, titled “BTS the Comeback Live | Arirang,” will broadcast from Gwanghwamun in Seoul on March 21 at 7 a.m. ET. This event celebrates their forthcoming album, Arirang, which arrives on March 20.

Following the performance, fans can dive into BTS: The Return, a documentary directed by Bao Nguyen, which explores the making of the band’s new LP. The documentary debuts on March 27 on Netflix.

The press release describes the documentary as a “portrait of resilience, brotherhood, and reinvention.” Members RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, V, Jimin, and Jung Kook reunite in Los Angeles to create new music, reflecting their current selves. This process culminates in what is touted as a landmark album.

The film will also explore the group's challenges: "how to begin again, how to honor the past without being bound by it, and how to move forward together."

Arirang marks the group’s first studio album since 2020’s Map of the Soul: 7. The album is named after a traditional Korean folk song, celebrated both in Korea and worldwide. The group will also launch an extensive tour this April that will run through March 2027 in support of their upcoming LP. The world tour will kick off in Goyang, South Korea, on April 9, and see the band spending multiple nights in each city on the trek, including Tokyo, Mexico City, Las Vegas, Busan, London, Paris, Chicago, Toronto, Sydney, Bangkok, Hong Kong, and Manila.
