BTS Kicks Off 'Arirang' Tour in Seoul Amid Torrential Rain, Delighting Fans

Tens of thousands of BTS fans braved torrential rain on Thursday to witness the kickoff of the group’s official Arirang tour at Goyang Stadium, near Seoul, South Korea. The septet delivered a spectacular performance, undeterred by the weather, playing nearly every song from their new Arirang album alongside a selection of their greatest hits.

During the remix version of Wings’ “Not Today,” they commanded the stage with lasers and dancers wielding fluorescent lights, punctuated by bursts of pyro.

Similarly, their performance of “Fire” featured even more pyrotechnics. They showcased their intricate choreography in the “Mic Drop” remix and engaged the entire audience during “Run,” ensuring everyone got a view.

Most impressively, the group performed with unwavering energy despite the rain. According to a BBC review, V even playfully mimicked swimming during “Swim.” RM humorously commented, “Watch out, you might get hurt like me,” referencing his recent ankle injury sustained during tour rehearsals. Suga jokingly compared the venue to “a water park.”

By the end of the main set, Jimin addressed the weather with humor. “I’m soaked down to my underwear, but the most important thing was getting to see you all,” he said, according to the BBC. “For four years, I couldn’t see you and it was tough, but it’s an honor that I got to see you again.” The group had been on hiatus for four years to fulfill South Korea's mandatory military service.

One fan, TheUltimateDodo, captured a close-up moment of Jimin drying Taehyung’s hair.

Despite the weather, the BTS Army showed their dedication, with some fans arriving as early as 6:30 a.m. Half a million fans tuned into a three-hour livestream of the stadium exterior, demonstrating the immense excitement surrounding the comeback.

BTS, who previously marked their return with a free concert in Seoul attended by a reported quarter of a million fans in March, have further concerts planned in South Korea. They also have dates scheduled in the U.S., starting with a two-night engagement in Tampa, Florida, on April 25.
