Céline Dion Announces Paris Residency: First Headlining Shows in Six Years

Céline Dion has announced a highly anticipated return to the stage with her first headlining concert engagement in six years. Starting this September, she will grace the Paris La Défense Arena in France for a 10-show residency.

These performances will be particularly significant as they mark Dion's first public appearances since her diagnosis with stiff person syndrome in 2022, a rare and incurable neurological disorder that causes spasms and other physical challenges. The announcement has sparked widespread excitement among her devoted fanbase.

"This year, I’m getting the best gift of my life,” Dion shared in a heartfelt video message accompanying the announcement. “I’m so happy. I’m so ready to do this. I’m feeling good, I’m strong, I’m feeling excited—obviously, of course, a little nervous—but most of all, I am grateful to all of you. I can’t wait to see you again. Well, happy birthday to me.”

Dion’s last full-fledged tour was unfortunately cut short in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with subsequent attempts to reschedule the remaining legs facing numerous setbacks. Since then, Dion has only briefly taken to the microphone on three occasions: a poignant live rendition of Edith Piaf’s “Hymne à L’Amour” at the Paris 2024 Olympics opening ceremony; a short, two-song set at a private event in Saudi Arabia that same year; and a televised performance of “The Prayer” as part of the 2020 One World: Together at Home benefit livestream.

When Dion publicly revealed her diagnosis, she shared that she was diligently working with a sports medicine therapist to regain her strength. “Unfortunately, these spasms affect every aspect of my daily life, sometimes causing difficulties when I walk and not allowing me to use my vocal cords to sing the way I’m used to,” she explained.
