Is This the End? Trent Reznor Hints at Nine Inch Nails' Touring Future

Nine Inch Nails fans, brace yourselves. The industrial rock icons might be nearing the end of their touring days, according to recent comments from frontman Trent Reznor himself.

During a performance in Tulsa, OK, last Friday, Feb. 27, Reznor shared some candid thoughts with the audience. "I don’t know if we’re going to be touring anymore after this," he admitted in a video filmed from the BOK Center crowd, "but I’m proud of the show that we’re doing right now. And I’m f—ing grateful that you’ve chosen to spend your evening with us tonight. Thank you very much."

Reznor reflected on a past performance in Tulsa as an opening act for Peter Murphy at Cain’s Ballroom, recalling a pivotal moment when he witnessed a fan passionately singing along to "Head Like a Hole."

On the same day as Reznor's comments, NIN surprised fans with Tron Ares: Divergence, a companion album to their Tron: Ares soundtrack. This follows TRON: Ares, the first film score credited to Nine Inch Nails, composed by Oscar winners Reznor and Atticus Ross, which debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200.

Pretty Hate Machine cemented NIN's place in music history. Peaking at No. 75 on the Billboard 200, it pioneered a new wave of heavy, synth-infused music. NIN has a total of 18 appearances on the all-genres albums chart, including two No. 1 albums: 1999’s The Fragile and 2015’s With Teeth.

Currently, Reznor and his bandmates are on the second leg of the Peel It Back tour, set to conclude on March 16 at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, CA. The tour's first leg commenced on June 15, 2025, in Dublin, wrapping up with two shows at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles last September.
