Jack White Unleashes New Tracks on 'SNL' Stage: A Sixth Musical Guest Triumph
Jack White marked his sixth appearance on Saturday Night Live with electrifying performances of his freshly released songs, "Derecho Demonico" and "G.O.D. And The Broken Ribs."
Jack White graced Saturday Night Live for the sixth time as a musical guest, delivering powerful renditions of two brand-new tracks, "Derecho Demonico" and "G.O.D. And The Broken Ribs," which he unveiled just the day before his performance.
"Derecho Demonico," translating to "demonic right," showcases White's signature edgy style. Meanwhile, "G.O.D. And The Broken Ribs" delves into provocative themes, reimagining Adam and Eve in a haunting, post-apocalyptic Garden of Eden.
White's lyrics paint a vivid picture: "Welcome to the end of the world/ Nobody left but one boy and one girl and one other/ But you know we can’t live like a sister and brother/ They’re gonna make you a mother now."
This wasn't White's first rodeo at SNL. He previously rocked the stage in February 2023, showcasing tracks from his 2022 albums, Fear of the Dawn and Entering Heaven Alive. His history with the show includes solo performances in 2012, 2018, and October 2020, the latter being a moving tribute to Eddie Van Halen with a custom-made guitar. His SNL debut was back in 2002 with the White Stripes.
His most recent album, 2024’s No Name, has garnered praise, with Rolling Stone noting it as “some of the best, most lively garage-blues crunch he’s given us in many many moons, with just the right amount of eccentricity thrown in.”
White is set to embark on a European tour in May, followed by a U.S. performance at the Borderland Festival near Buffalo, New York, in September.
