Lighting Rig Collapse Injures Fifteen at Max Dean DJ Set in Buenos Aires

A shocking incident unfolded during a performance by British DJ Max Dean at Archi Club in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on Sunday, March 1, where a lighting rig collapsed into the crowd, injuring approximately 15 people.

The incident occurred around 5 AM during Max Dean's set, with about 700 people in attendance. The lighting structure fell into the VIP area, located behind the DJ booth.

Footage circulating online shows the moment the rig gave way, crashing down onto attendees and causing injuries that required hospitalization.

According to Need To Know, six people were hospitalized, and numerous ambulances, firefighters, and police officers responded to the scene. Two additional attendees sought treatment at a local hospital. The injured individuals were reported to be between 25 and 49 years old.

MixMag reports that while two individuals sustained “traumatic brain injuries,” all those hospitalized have since been discharged.

Max Dean, unaware of the collapse due to his position on stage, continued his set until the situation was brought to his attention. The event was immediately halted, and the venue was evacuated.

"I’m deeply saddened to learn that some people were injured following the stage collapse at the event in Argentina. I was not made aware of the situation immediately as it took place behind me," Dean told MixMag.

"As soon as I was [made aware], the music was turned off and the venue was evacuated. My thoughts are with everyone affected. I sincerely hope those who were hurt make a full and speedy recovery," he added. "The safety of fans, crew, and everyone involved is always the top priority, and I am staying closely informed as more details become clear."

Need To Know also reported that the lighting rig was installed just hours before the event, though this remains unconfirmed by Archi Club operators.

Archi Club has not yet released an official statement regarding the incident and is reportedly temporarily closed pending an investigation. NME has reached out for comment.
