Ricky Martin Bravely Resumes Concert After Tear Gas Incident in Montenegro
Ricky Martin's concert in Montenegro was temporarily halted after a tear gas incident, but the star returned to the stage to complete his performance for his fans.
Last Thursday night, during Ricky Martin's performance in Montenegro, a disruptive incident occurred when someone sprayed tear gas towards the stage. According to a statement from the star’s representative, the concert was briefly interrupted.
Following the disturbance, Ricky Martin temporarily left the stage as a safety precaution. However, after authorities "confirmed that the situation was under control and that attendees could safely return," he chose to finish the show.
"During Ricky Martin’s concert tonight in Montenegro—where the artist was kicking off the European leg of his Ricky Martin Live tour—an individual discharged tear gas toward the stage, causing an abrupt interruption of the show as audience members moved away from the area and received assistance," stated Róndine Alcalá, Martin's publicist, in both Spanish and English.
Alcalá added that while his team advised against continuing, Martin insisted on returning to the stage "in order to fulfill his commitment to his fans."
In a post, his publicist shared, "Ricky Martin and his team are safe and grateful for the support and concern received following tonight’s events in Montenegro." Alcalá confirmed that his upcoming international dates will proceed as planned.
Last year, Martin, a celebrated Latin music icon, received MTV’s inaugural Latin Icon Award at the 2025 Video Music Awards. In his acceptance speech, Martin remarked, “Thank you so much, because it’s been 40 years. I started when I was a baby working [in Menudo], and we’re still here. We just want to unite countries. We just want to break boundaries, and we just want to keep music alive.”
