Shakira Draws Two Million Fans to Free Rio Concert: A Night of Music and Magic
Shakira captivated an estimated two million fans with a free concert at Rio de Janeiro’s Copacabana Beach. The show featured a star-studded lineup of special guests and celebrated her illustrious career.
On May 3rd, Shakira delivered a monumental free performance at Rio de Janeiro’s Copacabana Beach, complete with surprise appearances from several special guests. According to Rio de Janeiro's Mayor Eduardo Cavaliere, the event attracted an estimated crowd of two million people.

The nearly three-hour setlist spanned Shakira’s extensive discography, featuring hits like “Hips Don’t Lie,” “La Tortura,” “Whenever, Wherever,” and “She Wolf,” in addition to her 2023 viral collaboration with Bizarrap, “BZRP Music Sessions #53.”
The concert also showcased collaborations with Brazilian music royalty. Caetano Veloso, a pioneer of the tropicália movement, graced the stage, as did his sister, Maria Bethânia, one of Brazil’s best-selling artists. Anitta also joined Shakira to perform their new track, “Choka Choka,” from Anitta’s latest album, Equilibrivm.
The performance was part of Shakira’s ongoing world tour supporting her 2024 album, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, her first all-Spanish-language album in 19 years. It also marked the latest installment of Rio de Janeiro’s Todo Mundo no Rio concert series. Previous editions have featured free shows by Lady Gaga in 2025 and Madonna in 2024, with Madonna’s performance drawing the largest live audience of her career at the conclusion of her Celebration Tour.
Throughout her set, Shakira expressed her deep affection for Brazil and Rio, even spelling out “I love you, Brazil” in Portuguese through skywriting. "I arrived here when I was 18 years old, dreaming about singing for you," Shakira shared with the audience, according to the Associated Press. "And now look at this. Life is magical."
