Spain's Recorded Music Market Surges: Bad Bunny and Rosalía Dominate Charts in 2025
Spain's music industry experiences a significant upswing, driven by streaming and vinyl sales, with Bad Bunny and Rosalía leading consumption.

The recorded music market in Spain experienced a robust growth of 13.7% in 2025, reaching a total industry value of 409.5 million euros ($475.7 million USD). This resurgence, detailed in the annual report by PROMUSICAE (Producers of Music of Spain), signals a return to market levels not seen since 2003. PROMUSICAE represents over 95% of Spain's music market.
Music sales, encompassing both digital and physical formats, generated 343.7 million euros ($399.3 million USD), accounting for 84% of the industry's total revenue. While impressive, this figure remains 26% below the historic peak achieved in 2001.
Among the most consumed albums in Spain during 2025, Bad Bunny's Debí Tirar Más Fotos topped the annual chart after an impressive 51 weeks. Other notable albums in the top 10 included Rosalía's Lux, Cuarto Azul by Aitana, Buenas Noches by Quevedo, Borondo by Beéle, and The Life of a Showgirl by Taylor Swift. Albums from JC Reyes, Karol G, Mora, and Omar Courtz also made the list.
Streaming continues to be the primary engine of growth for the Spanish music industry. In 2025, streaming generated 299.8 million euros ($348.3 million USD), a 13% increase from the previous year, representing 99.2% of all digital sales.
Premium subscriptions accounted for the majority of streaming revenue, contributing 213.8 million euros ($248.4 million USD), or 71.3% of the total. Ad-supported streaming, including both audio and video, generated 86 million euros ($99.9 million USD), a smaller but still significant portion of the industry's revenue.
According to the report, over 21 million Spaniards utilized audio streaming services in 2025, representing approximately 42% of the population. Premium subscriptions were held by over 8 million users, an 18% increase compared to 2024.
The standout track in the annual song ranking was "La Plena (W Sound 05)" by W Sound, Beéle, and Ovy On The Drums, closely followed by Yorghaki and Alleh's "Capaz (Merengueton)." Several hits by Bad Bunny also featured prominently, including "Baile Inolvidable," "NuevaYol," "DtMF," and the collaboration "Veldá" with Omar Courtz and Dei V. Other notable tracks included "Mi Refe" by Beéle and Ovy On The Drums, "No tiene sentido" by Beéle, Karol G's "Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido," and "Yo y Tú" by Ovy On The Drums, Quevedo, and Beéle.
The digital market overall generated 302 million euros ($350.8 million USD), accounting for 87.9% of all recorded music sales in Spain. Permanent downloads and other digital formats contributed 2.2 million euros ($2.56 million USD), though their market share continues to decline.
The physical market also experienced significant growth in 2025, with revenues of 41.7 million euros ($48.4 million USD), a 31.6% increase from 2024.
Vinyl continues to dominate physical sales, accounting for 69% of the market. A total of 2.18 million units were sold, generating 28.9 million euros ($33.5 million USD), a 44.9% year-over-year increase. CD sales also grew, albeit more modestly, with revenues of 12.6 million euros ($14.6 million USD), up 9.1% from the previous year.
Antonio Guisasola, president of PROMUSICAE, commented on the sector's performance: "The growth of the recording market in 2025 confirms that the efforts and investment of record companies in Spain to support the talent and creativity of artists are delivering results that bring us closer to the figures of 2003."
However, Guisasola cautioned that structural challenges remain: "The penetration of paid subscriptions remains lower than in other markets around us, so it is necessary to continue strengthening this model to ensure fair compensation for creators."
The report also highlights that piracy remains a significant issue, with 34% of consumers accessing content illegally, resulting in an estimated economic impact of 722 million euros ($838.8 million USD) on the music industry.
