Taylor Swift Crowned IFPI Global Artist of the Year for Record-Breaking Sixth Time
Taylor Swift reigns supreme, securing the IFPI Global Artist of the Year title for the fourth consecutive year and sixth time overall, driven by record-breaking streaming, physical, and digital sales.
Taylor Swift has once again claimed the throne as the IFPI Global Artist of the Year, marking her fourth consecutive year and sixth time overall receiving this prestigious honor. The award recognizes the artist's unparalleled success in streaming, physical sales, and digital downloads.
The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) attributes this achievement to the release of Swift’s twelfth studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, and the documentary series The End of an Era, which fueled massive global fan engagement. The album debuted at Number One on the Billboard 200 in October 2025, maintaining its top position for 12 weeks. Hit singles like “Opalite” and “The Fate of Ophelia” have also dominated the Hot 100 charts.
Swift’s streams experienced a significant surge in 2025 after she regained control of her music catalog, six years after Big Machine Label Group sold it to Scooter Braun’s Ithaca Holdings. Fans enthusiastically embraced the opportunity to listen to the non-Taylor’s Version recordings of her albums without reservation. Notably, Reputation saw a staggering 1,184 percent increase in album sales and a 125 percent increase in streaming, equating to 34.75 million streams, following the announcement.
Other notable artists featured on IFPI’s Global Artist Chart 2025 include Stray Kids at Number Two, Drake at Number Three, The Weeknd at Number Four, and Bad Bunny at Number Five. Kendrick Lamar, Sabrina Carpenter, Billie Eilish, and Lady Gaga also made appearances on the chart. According to the IFPI, Swift has now won the award as many times as all other artists combined over the past decade.
The IFPI Global Single Chart and IFPI Global Album Chart for 2025 are set to be revealed later this week.
