Taylor Swift Battles Bedding Company Over "Swift Home" Trademark
Taylor Swift is challenging a trademark application from Cathay Home for "Swift Home," arguing it could confuse fans and infringe on her brand.

Taylor Swift is locked in a trademark dispute with bedding company Cathay Home over their application for the mark "Swift Home." Swift's legal team has filed a request with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to reject the application, arguing that it could mislead consumers into believing the products are endorsed by the singer.
The legal filing, reviewed by Rolling Stone, highlights the stylistic similarities between Cathay Home's lettering and Swift's signature. The document states that the stylized cursive font used in "Swift Home" closely resembles the custom font Swift uses to approximate her handwriting. TAS Rights Management LLC, representing Swift, has been actively contesting Cathay Home's mark since November 2025.
The filing also emphasizes Swift's global recognition, stating, "The Artist is one of the most famous musicians in the world and is well-known by the general public... Upon information and belief, [Cathay Home] has knowledge of the public recognition of the Artist and the use of SWIFT as referring to the Artist, when they filed [trademark] Application."
Swift's team is requesting the rejection of Cathay Home's trademark application.
Ting Geng, attorney for Cathay Home, stated that they've represented the company for over a decade and "previously reached a consent-to-coexist agreement with Taylor Swift’s legal team regarding another registered ‘Swift Home’ mark.” Geng added that Cathay Home has not used the disputed mark in business and has chosen not to pursue registration of the mark, deeming it "not essential to its business."
A representative for Swift has yet to comment.
Cathay Home initially applied for a different "Swift Home" trademark in July 2015, which was registered in September 2016 and renewed on January 23, 2026. The current dispute concerns a subsequent application filed in May 2025.
Swift has a history of protecting her brand, with over 300 trademarks filed in the U.S. related to her name and popular phrases. In 2015, she famously trademarked the phrase "This Sick Beat" from her hit song "Shake It Off."
