The Temper Trap Returns After a Decade with 'Sungazer' and Muse Tour
Australian alternative rock band The Temper Trap is set to release their fourth studio album, Sungazer, their first in ten years, and will be supporting Muse on their North American tour.
This summer promises a vibrant return for The Temper Trap, as they gear up to release Sungazer on July 10th. Fans can catch a sneak peek of the new tracks when they join Muse on their North American tour throughout July and August.
Sungazer (via Mushroom Music / Virgin Music Group) marks the band's fourth studio album and their first release in a decade. The album is spearheaded by the tracks "Lucky Dimes," which debuted in 2025, and "Giving Up Air," which TTT showcased live on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in January.
"With time apart and much personal growth from us all," the band shared in a statement, "Sungazer feels like it’s captured the most pure collection of music we’ve ever made. We had more fun making this record and in the writing room than on any of the previous records we’ve done. We’re in a great place creatively and in our friendships, we’re closer than ever. Being back into the studio together really felt like coming home."
According to their representatives, Dougy Mandagi (lead singer), Toby Dundas (drummer), Jonathon Aherne (bass) and Joseph Greer (guitar) experienced "an inspiring energy" upon returning to the studio. Working collaboratively across continents, exchanging demos, and meeting in Melbourne for studio sessions, the resulting record boasts an impassioned and immediate sound.
TTT captured the zeitgeist of the late 2000s with "Sweet Disposition," famously featured in (500) Days of Summer, highlighted by Mandagi's signature falsetto. The band has celebrated ARIA Awards and consecutive chart-toppers (with 2012’s The Temper Trap and 2016’s Thick as Thieves), navigated lineup changes, and performed at major events, including headlining the halftime show at the 2012 AFL Grand Final.
After a series of headline shows in Australia and North America last year, The Temper Trap is set to embark on a significant North American tour supporting Muse on their The Wow Signal Tour. Their journey begins with a performance at Summerfest 2026 in Milwaukee, WI on July 4.
