Tyla Announces 'A*Pop' Album: Release Date, and What to Expect
Tyla is set to release her highly anticipated sophomore album, APop*, on July 24. The album promises a fresh, confident, and global sound, following the success of her hit single 'Chanel' and collaboration with Zara Larsson.
The wait is almost over! Tyla has officially announced the release date for her upcoming album: APop* is slated to drop on July 24.
The announcement was teased with a trailer on Wednesday, highlighting the album's themes: “African,” “Unapologetic,” “Confident,” and “Global.” This new project follows her successful single “Chanel” and the Y2K-inspired track “She Did It Again” with Zara Larsson.
In a previous interview with Rolling Stone in February, Tyla shared insights about her upcoming album. She said, “I feel like the first album, it was very hectic, it was a rush. It was like, all of a sudden, overnight craziness. So now that I’m settled in, I feel like I know more about my direction and what I want to do, what I want to say.”
She further elaborated, “I just knew that as I lived through the making of the album, it was going to fall into place, which it did. I feel like I just did something really fresh and so Tyla.”
In 2024, Tyla secured her first Grammy win in the Best African Music Performance category for her groundbreaking hit, “Water.” Last year, she clinched her second Grammy for Best African Music Performance with “Push 2 Start,” featured on the deluxe edition of her debut LP, Tyla+.
Additionally, Tyla received four nominations at the American Music Awards this past May, including Best Female R&B Artist, Best Afrobeats Artist, and for “Chanel,” Social Song of the Year and Best Music Video.
