Britney Spears Offers Lasagna, Speaks in British Accent During DUI Arrest: New Video Reveals Details
A video has surfaced showing Britney Spears's behavior during her DUI arrest in March, including offering officers lasagna and speaking in a British accent.
In March, Britney Spears was arrested for a DUI. She pleaded guilty to a lesser charge earlier this month, and now a video has been released that shows Spears offering officers lasagna and speaking in a British accent.
According to The New York Times, who obtained the video, an officer asked Spears to rate her sobriety on a scale from 1 to 10. "I could drink probably four bottles of wine and take care of you, I'm an angel," she answered. When an officer told Spears that he pulled her over "because you were swerving in two lanes," she apologized and said she was "on my phone."
"You can come to my house — I'll make you food or lasagna or whatever you want," she said. "I have a pool." She refused to exit the car for about 10 minutes, and when she did she said, "I know my rights," while insisting that she could drive. "I haven't done anything."
The officers who evaluated her said she assumed different accents, including British and sometimes speaking in a childlike voice. During the examination, she would "talk nonsensically about things that did not pertain to the exercise." It was concluded that she was under the combined effects of alcohol and a stimulant. Her breath tests revealed blood alcohol concentrations of .05 percent and .06 percent, which are below the legal limit in California.
She was booked into jail on suspicion of violating a part of California's vehicle code that says it is unlawful "for a person who is under the combined influence of any alcoholic beverage and drug to drive a vehicle." In the morning she was released. Her plea deal allows her to dodge further jail time; it includes 12 months probation and a three-month substance abuse program.
